    849 Shots later

I came to the conclusion that air shows (and I guess just about any other large crowd event) come down to four basic occurances:

    People watching the event,
    People just watching
    The event itself, and
    Food

People on right watching the event
Girl in the middle, I think watching me
    Airplane flying by in background
    Nathan's Hot Dogs...America's Favorite
    Does it get any better?

Willie or Jiro is fine by me.

Chris, that means you have a plethora of shot opportunities there! The only problem is what and when to pick among the four. Hehe. I like the candidness of the shot, makes the shot look very "American". Nice!

I shot mostly airplane shots...but do have a few crowd shots to pick from...that one had the best of all worlds. Thanks for commenting.

I like it! Saw it in the 'my country' comp earlier, and thought it was unmistakenly America.

Perfect timing with the plane as well

Chris, this shot is a good summary of the event, except for one MAJOR detail. You didn't catch anyone taking a photo

Actually, I have several but it does take time to sort through an 8GB and 4GB card.

That's a good point. I'm going to be taking a long weekend in Tennessee soon and I would love to come back home with that same problem

Chris …. I admire your restraint. Whatever you do don't do like me and get on the aircraft – silly slow shutter speed – background blur – full prop disk thing. My second air show was Shoreham (UK) last summer – just over 3K frames in six hours. Only about 50 any good – but when it works out it's magic – and very addictive. So be careful out there.

    Regards,

    Nick.

My biggest limitation was the short lens (105mm which to my credit, I didn't extend but about to 100mm as a lot of lenses lose it at the furthest focal length)...just about every shot I have is clear and sharp. I'd say I shot on a 1 bad to 10 good ratio, which is pretty remarkable considering the distance away from and speed these guys were traveling...I am going to chalk it up to beginner's luck and count my blessings.
