Nice graphic composition. The layered clouds work well at emphasizing the horizontal vs vertical contrast. I suppose that a clear blue sky would have worked as well by creating a strong colour contrast.
Andre, Thank you for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.
I keep coming back to this one ... not sure about the treatment of the sky. On the one hand the softness is a pleasing contrast to the stubble, but part of me keeps wanting to see more contrast in the clouds in order to meet the "stormy" ...
In any case, I do like it![]()
Bill, Thanks for your input. Much appreciated. I had looked at varying degrees of contrast for the sky. This seemed to work reasonably well. On second thoughts perhaps darkening the skies a little more may be beneficial........
As much as I hate to disagree with Bill, I think that this sky is too smooth to turn into a more stormy sky by darkening it.
Let me suggest an alternative. I see two things right away that could be tweaked. First, the bottom third is all about the lines, but they are a little washed out. So my first thought was to increase contrast a little in the yellow area at the bottom.
Second, blue and yellow are complementary, so heightening that contrast might work. I selected sky, added a selective color layer, pulled yellow all the way down and cyan all the way up. The effect is subtle, but it makes the sky bluer.
Then I darkened the sky a little bit with a curves layer.
Not a real edit, but I think it shows some directions worth playing with.
Dan, thanks for taking the time to offer some editing suggestions. Subtle as you say......
Nicely done Dan - I like it.
