I went back and played around a bit with this shot. I cut way back on the sepia layer and ended up with a very different shot. I like them both and would really appreciate hints on how to bring up the subtlety of the midtones without losing the vibrancy of the reds.

Those reds should be a bit more vibrant, what were the lighting conditions like? Nice composition.

there was nice sunshine and in the original they were much more vibrant. I was trying for a mid tone emphasis but appatently it was a littkle too midtone?
