    Pets

I am looking after my friends pets while they are away so I thought I would take advantage of some pet photos while I am here.

Please feel free to critique as I am always happy to learn.

Here is the very lazy cat. She is diabetic and I have to give her an insulin shot twice a day. I am far more a dog person than a cat person but this one is starting to grow on me.

And the very inquisitive lizard. This was taken through glass. I think I could do with a different DOF to get more of it in focus but overall I didn't think it turned out too bad for a first attempt at shooting through glass.

Is there a slight colour cast on the cat photo? Maybe as a result of the indoor lighting source.

The lizard has worked exceptionally well.

Love the candle light tint in the cat pic , does it well . The other pic is very well done , the sharpness in the head area is super.

They are both very nice Rita. I agree with Geoff about the color cast in the first one, a lovely cat though

Nicely done Rita. Have to agree with Geoff and bnnrcn about the colour caste, could it be a white balance issue?

    Hi Rita,

The cat image is lovely but the image of the lizard is gorgeous! Sharp, beautifully focused, gorgeous colours and detail. One of my favourites of yours. I think you should let him/her loose and have some more photo sessions.

Love the lizard! Would not want him as a pet but the photo is great!

George, John, Raymond, Binnur, thank you for your comments.

Geoff, Binnur, and Eric, yes, on second look I think that there is a colour cast on the cat. I will take another look at the white balance.

Christina, thanks for your feedback. Although he/she seems to be photogenic I have no intention of letting it out. I have enough just reaching in to take the food dish out to refill it. I far prefer the 2 dogs that are part of the menagerie

Barbara, I am right with you on your comment. I wouldn't want it as a pet either.

You and Barbara...why not make a pet out of that lizard? He cute, and has sharp head which you caught perfectly. I bet you two it is not as slippery as a snake, even if they belong to the same specie. My young son would have caught it and care for it, but I am not my young son...can be an endless photoshoot op you know...

Anyway, I love both shots even with the WB problem...so little it is negligible.

Love the shots, The lizard particularly is so sharp, great composition as well. i was suprised when you said it was taken through glass. The cat has a yellow colour cast to it but that is easily fixed.

    Re: Pets

Hi Rita: I don't have much to add regarding the cat photo that hasn't already been said. The pose is nice, but the colour is too yellow for my taste. Like the other posters, I very much like the iguana shot. I think the DOF is perfect as it focuses on that beautiful face. I love lizards!

    Re: Pets

Izzie, it is already my friends pet. You are right, it isn't slippery and I am quit surprised at how much character it has. The endless photoshoot comes to an end today when my friends come home but I will be back here to care for all the animals in about 10 days.

Jill and Suzan, thank you for your comments.

Izzie, I prefer my pets be soft and fuzzy! I lived in Ecuador for a year when I was in my late teens. There was a park there that was home to hundreds of them, but I did not know that. Image my surprise after sitting on a bench for a few moments and all the sudden I was surrounded by iguanas. I still have nightmares! They do have a charm about them but I much prefer them at a distance, a VERY far distance!

    Re: Pets

Barbara. I was teasing...!!! We have a few blue tongues around in Oz where I have a house and also at my DIL's house and I just don't want to have anything to do with it. They are all related to snakes and I just do not want to have anything to do with those slippery thingie. Knob tails...I've encountered them, made the hair on my skin stood up big time! Glad you took the shot behind a glass (window?) or a fish tank glass? Just curious...

    Thanks for commenting Sherwood.

Izzie, it is like a fish tank that it is kept in. You should see my antics trying to give it food and water without coming in contact with it

The lizard photo is perfect. I love the lighting and the resulting detail.
