    Beautiful drop, Chauncey. The background makes it look very psychedelic.

    I think the background fits, perhaps use a tonal adjustment to or away from the reflective drop.

    It's the background that bothers me as well on this, it may have worked better if you had kept it well OOF and toned down as it competes and detracts far too much from the real subject which is the reflection within the drop.

    Edit : Looking at this again it's the shape of the drop that also strikes me as unnatural.

    Over the top, Chauncey. Gotta go find my lava lamp.
    I would think the background would bow before some control points as the drop could not possibly receive enough emphasis.
