    Breakfast Time

We've had the rainbow lorikeets in a tree in our front garden every morning lately, feeding on the nectar of the tree flowers. Caught this fellow in a cheeky pose.

Comments welcome. Is there too much foliage ?

Just the right amount of foliage. Nice image.

I think the colors of the lorikeet set it off very well from the background, so the foliage doesn't seem to be a problem.

It looks perfect when viewed in lightbox. You nailed the focus on the eyeball, Dave. The difficulty of shooting the lorikeets in the lillipillies is that the bright white of the flowers can be distracting, but it is not easy to get the birds to pose in the right position. I am just wondering if the flower in the bottom left might be pulling a little too much on the eye?

Thanks for your comments John, Segio, Greg and James. Getting the bird's eye focused was good luck more than good management on my part ! But it does make a difference.

I reduced the background brightness to make it less intrusive but I might need to do a bit more with that large flower in the bottom left

Beautifully saturated colour Dave. You could take down the flower bottom left but it's good as it is.

Thanks John. Colours weren't enhanced in any way apart from a Levels tweek which boosted contrast. They are a very colourful bird. Having sunlight on them brings out the colour of course.

Perfect timing. Great gesture from the bird. I might crop it a bit tighter, but it'd be hard to improve the moment.
