Ducks & Daedelopsis, Reflecting on Autumn

I've been following a recent thread in which images have been submitted for C&C where a plugin? was being used to generate an artificial reflection of the source. The effect was interesting but not one I would have a use for. But it did bring to mind an image I took a week or so back, but subsequently 'overlooked' after initial capture, because I was searching for seasonal fungi and wanted close ups

It's purely personal, but 'natural' appeals more to me .... C&C welcome

I think you captured the reflection perfectly.

Hard to believe that one can create a reflection that wasn't there in the first place. Thank you for sharing.

    Thanks Christina,
oddly enough the reflection gives quite a good view of the underside of the bracket fungus. It won't make exhibition imaging, but I might just pack a small mirror in the bag for my next shoot. Some of the 'rooms I've been hunting a too close to the ground to see the gill structure (which helps with identification).

Dedicated mycologists, which I am definitely not, tend to lift specimens out of the earth etc which is a bit like picking wild flowers to me.

As regards the artificial reflection app, if you are experimenting with symmetry to create images, it probably has its uses.

Yes, I think the fungus (mushrooms) are very interesting especially because of the reflection. Your fungus photos are always beautiful, perhaps just photographing one of these with its' reflection in the water would be very interesting and beautiful...

Thank you for sharing. It is not something I would try to do.

i liked it; at the same time i feel the distinction between the main objects and the background is not enough, which, probably you can't help
    Regards

    Hi Nandakumar,
Glad you liked it, and yes, I agree with you about it being a somewhat confused background.
I was actually walking along the Grand Union Canal and the ducks were resting on the opposite side. There is a high bank on the other side, and the whole area is overshadowed by large oaks so it was rather dull.
If I'm honest I wasn't expecting much from the shot but up to that point, I'd seen nothing to catch my eye. The reflection was the deciding factor.

Hi James, what software did you use to create the reflection?

    David,
I guess I have confused you. The reflection of the ducks is completely natural.

I had seen some images on an earlier thread, posted by JBW/Brian (I added a reflection to a leaf and go this!).

He had used a tool to generate horizontal reflections of images. I was only commenting that although the effect was interesting, I preferred 'natural reflections.
