What which adapter is right for me ?

A few points:

I would expect that most Minolta Lens → EOS Body Adapters, would have an optic to maintain Infinity Focus – without an optical element the rear of the lens needs to be shaved to get to infinity focus.

The aperture of the lens will probably stop down via a spring loaded aperture lug, which extends from the rear of the lens – when the lug is held against the spring tension it will stop down.

If it is the one of the Mounting Bayonets which is broken on the C/Y Lens and it is loose on the Camera, then it will likely be loose on the adapter: BUT the lens will be connected to the adapter, so you could secure it, semi-permanently, with GAFF tape LOC-TITE or something similar. BUT – if the lens has physical damage then that could be as a result of an impact. As I mentioned earlier, the C/Y lens would need to be in good condition for me to consider using an adapter for it.

@ bill : Well yeah... Judging from how it looks to me it did go through some roughness, but I guess I will try it, I just looked the minlota adapter I chose, yes it does have some glass in it.

As well as the photos, a debrief would be valuable.

Very, very, few people ever come back and detail their experiences after receiving and acting upon (or not acting upon) advice and comment that they have requested.

A debrief, increases the value of opinion, shared information and advice, many times and not just for those who were seeking the advice initially.

+1 on what everyone else said about the MC/MD lens--you'll need an adapter with an optical element to achieve focus to infinity. Some folks are ok with the IQ hit a TC adds, some aren't. Again, the guys at mflenses may be able to provide guidance, but my gut feel is it's 50/50 whether or not you'll like it. I inherited some MC/MD lenses from my Dad, but haven't bothered to adapt them to my Canons. I toy with adapting them for m4/3, but I've already got those focal lengths covered with native lenses that AF.

1) When I turn the aperture ring nothing happens in the both of the lenses, I couldn't see any change around the holes.

It depends on the mount, but for the C/Y and MD/MC... that's not good. Those lenses should stop down when you turn the aperture ring (I just tested this on my C/Y Tessar 45/2.8, and a MC/MD Sigma 24/2.8 without adapter rings). I would also caution you against forcing the aperture ring--the leaves may be stuck together by old grease, and given that apertures are typically a bunch of delicately balanced spring-loaded blades, further damage can ensue. It may not be worth the money to get fixed, depending on what's causing the aperture to stick.

Actually I did try to change the aperture, and no matter what, it just doesn't not change, I got really annoyed... turned down and kinda not really feeling like adapting them right now... I mean whats the point even trying to adapt lenses which doesn't allow me to change it aperture its just not worth it... and that's also the reason for my disappearance I was looking forward to have fun with old school stuff~

I asked the locals, and man~ those who I talked to doesn't even know (or want to belive) that film lenses can be adapted >_<


@Bill : Actually I am pretty sure when ppl answer my questions, it comes from their experience which obtained by hard work and money...etc. and its also kind of people to even bother to share what they know... typing and thinking and so on.

So, the least someone like me can do is, just be "thankful", so those who helped me would feel some joy and happiness ^_^

One solution from my early movie days with a government surplus aircraft gun camera lens which never had an aperture but its size matched the UK half penny coin of those days .... so I painted several coins black and drilled various sized holes in them and so had a collection of 'Waterhouse Stops'.

Actually I stumbled as you have zoom lenses and Waterhouse Stops were for prime lenses ... sorry it was a silly suggestion for you

Well... These lenses already HAVE an aperture ring and blades, So, I think using that instead of making physical adjustments is better... I am not expert enough to try and do some changes on the lenses by myself.
