    Couple new Dragonfly shots

I am still waiting for the Grebe to hatch her eggs. These Dragonflies keep me awake, it can be a long day watching eggs. lol C&C always welcome.

    Hi Paul,

    Very nice.

My only minor suggestion on #1 would be to use a bit of dodging to reveal more detail in the shadow areas on the face and body.

Weather here hasn't been conducive to me shooting these larger varieties this year
All I have is a few titchy damsels.

    Cheers,

Nice dragons Paul, even identified by name. I have not gone to that extent yet...to me they are all dragonflies. A treat to shoot when you can get them to stay still long enough. Keep shooting my friend.

The shot of the skimmer is a standout, Paul. Lots of detail in the bug and a lovely background--which is hard to get with dragonflies, as they often perch in places with lots of clutter. My only suggestion, as something to try, would be to desaturate the orange tones in the perch a bit, which tend to draw attention away from the subject. But they also echo the subtler orange tones in the background, so after comparison you still might decide to stick with the way you have it.

Both shots are great but I especially love the first one. The detail is wonderful and as Arlen said, the background is really a really nice contrast. Thanks for posting them!

Like them both. But #1 is a real winner. Great detail, sharpness and vibrant colours. Post #2 is very good... but compared to post #1....
