Thistle?

Playing about with black and white, first attempt. Any advice?

Hi Brian,
with the thistle being so central I wasn't so sure of this picture at first; but after going away and then re-looking at it, I think the way you have framed it, with the wood surround, I think it does work. The only thing I'm not too sure about is the dark shadows on the stems, I'm not sure if it would look better if they were lightened a bit. What do you think?

John, thanks for the comments. I agree with you, the only problem is I'm not too sure how to do it! I shall have to study a bit. The photo was deliberately made contrasty, I think the original is better.

I think the colour version works better. Excellent going outside the box framing.
