A glorious morning in Glenfarg Green

We're now getting pretty chilly mornings, but with glorious sunshine coming up (this is the best weather we've had all year!). Perfect for those ground/water clinging misty shots.

I was at my desk reading CiC and looked out my sitting room window at Glenfarg Green, which is a wonderful, small public park area in the middle of our village. It's just across my garden wall. And saw this. So, threw the 70-200 f4L onto my 5DS and ran out into my garden. Got off a couple frames before the changing position of the sun changed the scene.

    What do you think?

I like concept and conversion but that one leaf on the right is a bit distracting. Nicely captured.

I am with John in his comment about the leaves at the right side, Donald...it is not common to see backlit scene in all its glorious beauty by I usually see them in colour. Your conversion is just right! And the composition is superb but for those pesky leaves...

I'm gonna be 'contrary' and say that it was the larger area, dark, blurry leaves on the left hand side that first annoyed me.

The ones on the right do not, although the sharp stem does.

I can see why you took it, and agree the conversion is great.

However, this (below) worries me - given your recent track record with cameras and legs

So, threw the 70-200 f4L onto my 5DS and ran out
However, I guess 'time was of the essence', as they say.

    Cheers, Dave

Good idea, Donald, but it isn't working for me. Out of focus leaves in the foreground and too much light spotting in the background.

    Ach well.

It was captured in circumstances that go against all my natural shooting instincts; i.e. spending time setting up and composing. I said, earlier, that I'd never imagine myself shooting hand-held with the 5DS. Your helpful comments have sort of confirmed the point. Anyway, it was a bit of fun.

Donald, I'm astonished that you captured the essence/feel of that scene with a B/W image. It takes me there. The richness of the light comes through without the need for color. Really excellent. That said, I agree with others regarding the two sets of OOF leaves at right and left. They are obtrusive enough to be spoilers. Nicely seen and well rendered in monochrome.
