Willie or Jiro is fine by me.

    Taking Orders.

After attending the school program for my youngest kid, we visited the local burger restaurant nearby and ordered some food. While waiting, I politely asked the lady at the counter if she don't mind if I take pictures inside the restaurant. I waited for another client to come in and took this shot. Thank you very much for viewing.

Very nice! The lady has a pretty face and nice eyes, perhaps she deserves a portrait of her own.
See, next time you can ask something for free as exchange for the photo

A very nice example of an "environmental" portrait, which was part two of my assignment for class this week. Thanks for showing me how it's done.

Nah, I'll just give her a copy of this. I'm too shy to make a trade.

    Nice. Good stuff.

I have a really really hard time taking pictures of people out in public. I feel like the creepy chick with the camera. Although I have noticed if Im using a long lense, people assume you're shooting for the local paper or organization . Getting permission is simple and easy, but it can also ruin the scene, because now your subject is aware they are having their picture taken. Lucky for you these gals carried on business as usual.

Hi, Debbie. I guess if you are not getting in their way when you take the shots that makes the image more natural. On this one, I already positioned myself on the composition that I want for the shot, with my fingers lightly positioned at the shutter button, and then waited for that special attention that she gave to the customer when she's telling her the orders and took the shot. I'm just probably lucky most of the time.

    Jiro...

I don't think luck had a lot to do with this image. You knew what you wanted and placed yourself in position to get his neat image of American life. I feel that I have met this woman in numerous stores in many different cities across the land.

I wonder if you might crop just a bit off the left side - a little bit out from the ice tea dispenser. This seems to place more emphasis on the clerks face and her neat expression. I made that crop and it placed her forehead exactly at the convergence of rule of thirds lines...

However crop or not, it's a great image...

Thank you very much for the suggestion, Richard. I think the borders changed the location of the power points. Usually, I crop my images in lightroom using the templates it has (very handy for changing the composition during post-processing) and then add the framing later. The reason why I said I'm lucky was that I have never encountered a situation wherein I was dealt harshly when I asked somebody for a shot. I guess it also has something to do with being polite to ask for their permission on my side most of the time. Thanks!
