Re: My second botanical shot?
And a nice Dahlia it is, Mike...nicely framed. Maybe just a teeny bit more sharpening.

Ah, dahlias -- they seem to glow from inside, don't they? I love it.

#2 - I'm keeping count, now. This IS beautiful - quite a glowing sun. I think that the shadow is a bit harsh, though. What kind of light?

That's one of those that, as soon as you see it, bangs you between the eyes and demands attention. You've got to study it ... and spend time doing so. A beauty, Mike. Knowing to go in this tight is what makes it. I haven't tried, but always think I wouldn't 'see' that this is what was needed.

It's a very fine image of a beautiful flower. Not sure about the botanical tag, botanists seem to liek front to back sharpness and the whole flower. You have used DoF wisely and focused closely in on the flower. Much more akin to art than botany!

Direct sun in a glorious, cloudless sky, 10.20am.
Shadows probably made worse by my heavy-handed use of 'clarity' control to enhance petal detail.
