    I am not really sure what went wrong with your picture. I took this picture with the exact same lens:

    ISO 400 - 1/250 - f 5.6

    Maybe my iso set on 1600 Tim ,by the way I got one of those pileated woodpeckers across the street but he seems to stay 80 ft up in the trees .The bottom sapsucker was shot with a 500 mm mirror lens, maybe an hour later.
