    Cattle yard C&C please

    Went on an AP forum 4WD day on the weekend to Emu Creek. Braving the snakes I took a walk around this old cattle yard. C&C welcome.

    Why didn't I see that twig at the time?

    Nice POV at #3, 4, and 6, Mark. Exposure and color is also very good.

    That is a lovely set of images. Packed with mood and atmosphere. I have to confess to not understanding or getting the point of #5, but the others are wonderful. My compliments on a job very well done.

    Yet another example of how you do not need the wide panorama, taking in all all the scene, in order to capture and tell the story - something I know I'm not as good at as I wish I was.

    The point? I could lie and make something up but I won't It just seemed strange to find this caravan out in the middle of nowhere and the anal retentive in me is always attracted to things symmetrical, ie windows within windows. I guess I'll have to wait for a comp themed "Windows"

    Hi Mark,

    I like the idea of cattle yards myself and I am still trying to get the quintessential cattle yard shot and I think your idea of a series is closer to the mark (sorry about the pun) than one single shot.

    You mentioned an AP 4WD tour. Was that an Australian Photography tour?

    I know what you mean about old mustering quarter, shearing quarters, etc. Your comments reminded me of this image I took at Hermensberg, birthplace of Albert Namatjira. For those who don’t not recognise the name he is probably to best known Aboriginal painter this country has produced. He painted landscapes in a western style (not the dot paintings you see today from Aboriginal artists) and brought to the world the colours of the Central Australia.

    While visiting the German mission where he grew up (outside Alice Springs) I was looking through the old sleeping quarters and the open window and colours of the bush outside gave me this idea of creating my art in the style (colours only) of Albert himself.

    Rather than shooting from the outside in this was from the inside out.

    Yes. Good day too.

    I was tempted to go inside and take some pics but we'd seen a big black snake around, the grass was waist high and think as, and I'm a big chicken when it comes to things that bite.

    Hi Mark,

    I agree with Willie;

    In terms of texture, which the other shots reek of, #5 is rather out of place (but I'd have shot it too)

    Good series,
