    Hi Brian,

    I like the colour and composition. The swift fall off of light from the camera flash has nicely blackened the background to highlight your subject. The leaf looks a little soft on my screen so maybe a little sharpening would help.

    This was taken against the sky so there was nothing behind it.

    I think the reduction in size has given it the impression of softness. Here is a larger version - wdyt?

    Much better. That's what I had in mind. You are correct that downsizing does remove a lot of the sharpening effect and in fact you need to re-sharpen after downsizing and posting here.
