The man who re-wrote Scottish history.
A lot of Braveheart was filmed just next door to where my dad farmed. Indeed, for about 5 weeks he (my dad) looked after the bullocks that you see (for about 5 seconds) pulling a cart. Because there were so many locals hired as 'extras' (all paid in cash) the pubs were awash with £50 notes. The Fort William area had never seen anything like it. After they all left, we broke down all the sets (the houses etc) and had firewood for years!

What I find more surprising is that America tried to invade us in 1778 at Whitehaven. John Paul Jones and a bloke from IKEA apparently. Whitehaven does not have an IKEA but it does have a McDonalds so I am guessing the Swede remembered he had left his flat pack musket on the wipeable work surface of his tastefully designed but competitively priced brig and turned back at the fish supper bar on the corner of Duke Street
