Cottonwoods, Autumn
A late autumn capture from a couple of years ago.
A trio of stark, skeletal cottonwoods in thinning fog. The cormorant atop the closet tree arrived whilst I was composing the image. There is a small colony of these birds in the area and they use these trees to perch and dry their wings after fishing for trout in the nearby river.......
C&C welcome.

This works nicely, Len. The bleak autumn sky and the trees in various stages of getting prepared for the coming winter work well. The areas of green grass and the orange leaves complement the leafless tress and gray sky.
Nicely done.

Re: Cottonwoods, Autumn
Nice composition, Len. My first thought was perhaps slightly increase the contrast but clicking on the image shows a higher resolution image where there is better contrast; so I wouldn't change anything.

I like it. Among other things, the diagonal formed by the tops of the trees adds more interest.
I've seen lots of cormorants, but never at the top of a tree. Learn something new every day.

Thanks to Geoff & Dan for their kind comments. Much appreciated.
The location is an " Off Limits" nature preserve on a large island in the Bow River supporting a wide variety fauna and flora.
The 3 trees in the foreground were "ringed " by beaver some time ago and are dead. Often frequented by cormorants, osprey and bald eagles that can be seen perched on the branches.

Another image of the same location taken from a position further up the river bank. Foggy conditions a day later with 2 cormorants perched in the tree.
