    Serene Waters

The Pangong Tso lake shows an intense and clear blue tone that contrasts with the dry and rocky mountains that surround it, with slopes in brown and light shades showing irregular reliefs marked by natural light while the sky, with scattered clouds, adds an open and realistic dimension to the scene.
The landscape conveys a simple sense of tranquillity, where water and land create a direct and balanced relationship resulting in a clear and strong image through its combination of natural colours and shapes.

Hi Antonio, another interesting image showing very arid mountain sides - Northern India?

Len, Pangong Tso is a border area marked by territorial disputes between India and China, as the so-called Line of Actual Control (LAC) runs through the lake. For this reason, it is an unstable region and not always accessible to visitors.

Being there was truly a matter of luck, not only for the rare opportunity to experience such a sensitive space, but also for the surrounding atmosphere. The air was incredibly pure, giving the place a sense of serenity that contrasts with its geopolitical reality.
This contrasts between political fragility and natural beauty further emphasises the unique character of the experience.

I thought this looked familiar, although my trip to Pangong Tso was in the winter, so the scene looked quite different with the ice on the lake.

I like the three layers of sky, mountains and water. This works well.

Manfred, as you know, this region is disputed between China and India and, most likely, the mountains already belong to the Chinese side, while I was staying on the Indian side.
I have mentioned here several times that I like to include “something” in the foreground to make the composition more interesting and give depth to the scene, but, curiously, I didn’t feel the need to do so in this case.
In fact, I think the image turned out very well.

I recall that the car journey from Leh up there involved some dangers, on a rather rough and challenging road. This was in July. We did not feel altitude sickness because the entire journey was made by car.
