Rideau Canal - Merrickville
Today was the first time I was able to operate my camera in over two months.
We headed to Merrickville, a town on the Rideau Canal, which runs between Ottawa and Kingston, Canada, some 202km / 124 miles. It opened in 1832 and is the oldest continuously operating canal in North America. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Lower two locks (there are a total of three locks at this lock station)

Guard Buoys at the entrance of the generating station

Nice story telling Manfred, but more importantly great to hear you are well enough to be out and about with the camera again.

Nice set of documentary photos of the Merrickville lock station. The second one could benefit from a much tighter crop emphasizing the buoys.

Re: Rideau Canal - Merrickville
Thanks Bill and André. It felt good to be out shooting again.
André - I was shooting with the 45 - 100mm lens only (FF equivalent 36 - 79mm). I can't handle field lens changes just yet (my grip with my right hand is too weak to safely change lenses), so the lens was shorter than I would have liked for the scene. I have a 100 - 200mm (FF equivalent 79mm - 158mm) and that would have been a better choice. I've already cropped a bit, but wouldn't want to go any farther, so what you see is a bit of a compromise.

Manfred,
Great to hear that you’re able to do some photography again. I hope you continue to progress.
