Photographs made in El Tatio, Chile.

Thank you for your interest! These images were captured at El Tatio in Chile, one of the highest geothermal fields in the world, situated about 4,320 metres high in the Andes.
The photographs show the geysers and fumaroles in activity during the early morning hours, when the contrast between the cold air temperature and the hot underground water creates those spectacular columns of steam.
The only drawback was having to get up very early, because as the ambient temperature rises throughout the day, the geothermal activity decreases significantly and the geysers practically stop functioning.
It is a truly unique place, with an almost lunar landscape that offers extraordinary photographic opportunities, especially under those ideal morning conditions.

Antonio, very interesting. Much like Yellowstone in Wyoming which also abounds in geothermal activity.
Also a lot closer to home for me!
