Re: Mabua Beach
Hi James
I do a lot of sunsets, and personally (it's a matter of taste) I prefer to wait until the sun has actually gone down behind the horizon level. Why? Because it helps balance the exposure throughout the shot, and you avoid lens flare etc, which you have in these shots. Also, I find the sky colours are usually better after the sun has set.
The compositions are quite good, but in #1 I would have moved more to the right and perhaps got a bit lower so the brightness of the sun was behind the boat.

Re: Mabua Beach
Hi, James;
The float in the foreground is a nice focal point. I like it there because it helps draw attention to the dividing line between land and sea.
I like the second shot better: you can spend some time looking, and continue to see more details. It's quite rich. I agree with Rob about the first. Moving to get the fisherman in the boat more central would have been good. If you have more image to the right, you might try a crop with the sun at the left 1/3 and the boat at the right 1/3.
Cheers,
Rick
