Yes, well coming across something like that is enough to put you off your cornflakes for a bit. I bet you felt the same as me when you came across this as when I was out mustering some sheep on one of our hills and came across a similar shed skin in the long grass. My reaction was if that is the 'before' I sure a heck don't want to meet up with the 'after!'![]()
One thing nice about Alaska is that we don't have to worry about running across snakes. Much less a monster like this one must be.
Watch it. Some folks dislike Mixed Metric-phores
The most disturbing part of your post Brian, is the statement "..found in the garden..."What species is it?
I think the shot is a bit confused Brian but there is some very good detail. Did you get a shot of the sloughed skin from the head?
I too would be interested in the species; I'm guessing a python, but would like a proper ID.
If it is a constrictor rather than a venonmous species I can imagine it could be a useful character to have in the garden - assuming you do not own a cat or small dog.

Brian, what a garden you have, a goldmine of all kinds of creatures to photograph. You certainly making the best use of them.
For inquiring minds. Let's call this one a Reticulated Python.
