    Hot Chicks.

Still baking hot here and no sign of rain.. Birds, like dogs, can't sweat so they have to cool themselves by panting.
Although in the shade this Noisy Miner chick was really stressed.
    Hot Chicks.

    As was the Kingfisher.
    Hot Chicks.
I wondered why it didn't take a dip in the creek - until I tried the water; it was almost scolding.

The young Welcome Swallow can't wait to get rid of its baby feathers.
    Hot Chicks.

Only the irrepressible little Fairy Wren didn't seem troubled.

Beautiful captures. So crisp and sharp, bringing out the fine detail. We also have a lot of heat distressed birds down here in Vic at the moment, especially our magpies.

And from what we see here at home not much seems to trouble fairy blue wrens all that much.

Awesome detail in the entire set. How in the world did you get that close to a kingfisher. They are notoriously shy rascals. That's a great shot of a fairy wren. Well done.

Lovely set of images Richard. If you can parcel it up, we'll take some of that warmth off your hands.

Thank you Dan. It's not often that I get close to a kingfisher, I think this one was just too hot to want to fly away, so I took a couple of quick shots and left it in peace. I have yet to get within a country mile of the Azure Kingfishers.
