Backyard Rainbow at our new Home

We're finally reasonably settled in to our new (rented) home. Today was the first day that we allowed ourselves to simply relax. Went for a bike ride, walked the dog, and had a nice glass of wine this evening. The wine was interrupted when the evening sky lit up with a double rainbow and I was forced to break out the camera for a shot or two.

This is the view from our back porch. We moved down from our home on the mountain to sea level. But we rented a house on a waterfront bluff on the salt marsh of the Knik (pronounced kinick) River estuary at the head of Cook Inlet. We still have mountain views across the inlet but backlit most of the day until late evening. This rainbow felt like a welcome sign.

It is in a nice spot, Manfred. The house itself could hardly be more different. We went from a modern, open concept floorplan home with 10ft ceilings and lots of glass to a 30yr old log cabin. The prior tenants were here six years and had let the aspen and alders grow up and block the water/mountain view. We spent three days cutting trees and brushing. And it's never a good sign when you move in and find a box of rat poison under the kitchen sink

Lovely view and the double rainbow looks very nice Dan Please becareful with the rat poison as you have Grace, don't use it at all if possible although the prior tenants used it in the past to fight with rats. Because you cut the trees and bushes and you keep the environment neat and tidy I don't think the rats will visit your house as often as before.

Those were our thoughts as well, Binnur. We also cut many bushes that had been allowed to grow right against the house. We've been keeping a sharp eye on Grace and have been looking for anywhere they may have placed poison previously. Thanks for thinking of her

Indeed. A little while later it rained rather hard.

The very best of luck in your new home. May it be a long and happy. Some back porch, some view, some photo.
