Re: A bit of fun at sheepdog trials
It has been far too long since I've seen a demonstration or competition of these activities. Thanks for providing such a nice, effective reminder!

My thoughts were the same as Mike's. What a nice memory! It made me smile. When I used to attend fiber arts festivals, there were sometimes trials and I loved watching them. I especially remember a few that demonstrated the instincts of the young dogs without training. What fun!

Re: A bit of fun at sheepdog trials
I grew up spending a lot of time going to trials like this. I've often thought of getting myself out there to try and make some photo essays. I know there will be a multitude of wonderful images to be made.
Thank you for perhaps providing the kick-in-the-.... that I need.

Re: A bit of fun at sheepdog trials
Wonderful series, always a great day out... & as is often the case, it's a lot harder than it looks, sheep are fickle creatures.
Terri, your comments remind me of a time we took our dogs to stay with us on a working farm.
A man was duck shooting and our dog, who had never seen or heard anything like this, promptly jumped in to the pond, swam to the duck, picked it up softly in its jaws & swam back then placed the bird at the feet of the man.
A Golden bred to retrieve.

That's a really good series. Collies always manage to look really focussed when they are on the job (Images 1 and 2) and you have caught that here.
