Question - Does This Background Work?
Do you think the background adds are distracts from the image. This is a Golden Azalea with a large blooming Rhododendron about 15 feet in the distance. Took this at Wahkeena late friday but the wind was a bear. Might go down and try again later today. Opinions very much appreciated.

Re: Question - Does This Background Work?
Where the bright colors are directly behind the subject I find it distracting. Almost disorienting.

Re: Question - Does This Background Work?
The background is a bit on the bright side in comparison to the flower and competes for my eye.
I used NIK Viveza to select the background and lowered the brightness a bit. I then selected the flower and increased the brightness and saturation. Of course, the results would be better if working from an original image rather than a copy from a posted image but, this may give you an ideas of what I mean...

OTOH: Just about all photography is determined by the individual viewer...

Richard's edit is exactly what I was thinking. That version looks good to me.

Re: Question - Does This Background Work?
the colors compliment each other, I would play with the color sliders a bit and warm up the flower.

Re: Question - Does This Background Work?
It looks OK to me until Richard put in his edit...now it had popped its colouring...
