    Sangria #2

I made an overhead image of sangria a couple days ago, so I decided to make one using a more traditional perspective.

    Setup
Imitation sangria (2/3 pinot noir and 1/3 water) and three acrylic ice cubes. Tabletop is white foam core. A large continuous-light lamp with all bulbs lit fitted with translucent vellum on the left side lights that side of the scene and the rear of the tabletop. A medium continuous-light lamp on the right rear lights that side of the rear of the tabletop. A small continuous-light lamp on the front right side back lights the orange slice. Small pieces of black foam core on the right and left sides of the glass are laid on the tabletop to control the areas of the sides of the glass that do and do not reflect the white tabletop.

    Imitation Condensation
Same as the other photo: I applied surf wax to the outside of the glass, heated it with a hair dryer, smeared it as evenly as possible with my hand and heated it again to produce an even, transparent surface. I sprayed a mixture of equal parts of water and clear Karo syrup on the wax, holding the atomizer away from the glass to create small droplets and closer to the glass to create larger droplets.

    Imitation Droplet
Aqua Gel (very difficult to apply to an orange!)

Ctrl + mouse scroll wheel movement also zooms in/out.
Ctrl + 0 (zero) instantly returns to 100%. (Mod addition)

First comment is that this made me thirsty

The explanation of how you set things up to simulate the condensation etc. is fascinating. Very inventive. The overall effect is very successful. Well done.

Nah, not the least bit inventive; I'm only a copycat.

I didn't even look up a tutorial. Robbie provided us with this tutorial and I simply followed instructions. The only exception is that my hands aren't warm enough to melt the wax as the instructor explains. The solution to use a hair dryer to melt it wasn't even mine; that was my wife's idea.

I'll only take the credit for the recipe for making the imitation sangria. It's straight out of a friend's recipe I modified for making the real stuff. Instead of using 1/3 white wine, I used 1/3 water. Wine is about 80% water, so that decision also wasn't very inventive.

In that case, well researched Mike. It's a fine shot. If I'm honest, I'm not quite sure about the stark white BG but the details make it and it's good work.

I made the background that style mostly so it would complement the similar background used in my other image of sangria.

It's an orange, not a lemon. First it was Dave (in the other thread). Now it's you.

This is a better shot than the other one, Mike...makes me want to sit down under an umbrella and sip it and stay longer sitting down. I once tasted sangria and I think I like it...haven't done it since because I ended up in giggles. One more of those tall drinks and I would have ended up dancing on top of the table, nekkid.

I'd blow you a raspberry Mike, but it seems you already have one

    Unless I'm wrong again

    Being serious:
The image works for me, especially the imitation droplet; which was worth the effort - and I like that it's not 'white'.

    Cheers, Dave

Dave: You're back in my good standing now that you have correctly identified the raspberry. Seriously, good eye for noticing that the background isn't a true white. It actually has a slight vignette, which I doubt that I would know if I hadn't created it.

I liked the idea of the overhead shot in your previous version but I find this one to be far superior. The orange slice with the droplet tops it off nicely.
