Helpful Posts: This is the first critter test I have managed with the D800, 105mm plus a 36mm tube. It's aim was to assess cropping capability and practice sharpening procedure, a big difference from the old D300.
Should my model not have departed so quickly I could have set up the lighting as well

Too close for comfort, Grahame...almost ikky looking...105mm + 36 is too close-up for a small bug...

Heck Grahame, the lighting is not that bad - you have catch-lights in three of the eyes!

Have you started shooting macro Grahame? This one looks nice and has different colors , maybe because it is from Fiji

Depth of Field is quite good considering the magnification, I see you were on f/22.

With the FF from what I've read it appears I now lose about a stop in DoF so next try I'll up things a bit.

The colours are a bit bland on the ones I have found here, ikky as Izzie describes it, so I'll look for a more appealing one
