    Early visitor

We don't usually have them visiting the feeders so early.
This Bue Jay came calling so I quickly brought out the peanuts
to entice it all the more.
    C&C please

This is very beautiful, Irene...the blue is more pronounced than the ones I have over here in my feeder. I have 4 resident Blue Jays now...I know they are around when I hear their call in the morning asking me to feed them..I think they are cute. But yours here is more beautiful than mine...

For all their loud calling, blue jays are beautiful birds. We have a different variety up here, Steller's Jay, which are equally as pretty and vocal.

By way of C/C, you could hardly ask for a cleaner background, the bird is well exposed, and you got a bit of a catch light in the eye. On the downside, it's not quite tack sharp(but that may be web issues) and birds rarely present at their best in pure profile. A slight twist of the head would be preferable. But we take what they give us

Possibly fractionally tight at the bottom; but nothing serious.

Nice shot! We have these pesty birds in our yard, pushing and shoving the smaller ones away from our feeders. When I put out peanuts, usually both shelled and un-shelled, there is a raucous contest among the jays, squirrels and chipmunks access to the horde!

Thank you Izzie. To date I only have a pair. Usually more in winter at which time
    we put out suet blocks.

Thank you John, I appreciate your comment.

Thank you Dan. We have the stellers as well. They empty the sunflower feeder in not time.

    Thank you Bob.

Thank you Carol for your encouraging comment.

Thank you Jim, Geoff, and Binnur- I appreciate your comment as well.

Thank you Zen. I agree, they can cause quite the commotion. We do have the squirrels but they are not at the feeders as yet, they're still out in the bush.

We have a rifle to sort out the squirrels from the jays and a trap for the chipmunks, beautiful as they are...we call it critter management control.
