Fast? --- they're quicker than quick!!! I am still on experimental on mine but when I do mine, shutter speed is 1/1600 or better. My feeder is not in the right lighted location at the moment so this is really very nice that you got these ones near a flower. Backdrop on #2 is excellent but I do not like the frontal shot here...#1 has a bluish tinge? Have you tried sorting out the white and black points in this shots? Just asking...Good shots, better than mine if not for the colour tinge.
Anyway, lately during my gardening breaks, I have been counting the flutter of their wings. I reckon that I can get a sharper wing flutter to show an acceptable freeze in 8 shots, continuous high as I watch them and count to a fast 8 count before it folds the wing to start another 8 fast count. I used a Nikon so I do not know if your camera has an option to set your shutter clicks to exactly 8 counts as mine would. A little bit of blurring on the wing is nice, just like your #2 shot...
In the first image the bird is almost lost within the composition, just a matter of timing until the bird reaches a good contrasting area. 2nd looks pretty good. Nice efforts.
Thank you, yes, I will go back to the drawing board and see what I can do with the color. Late lastnight I didn't notice it so much as now. That is why it is so great to have other people look and give you openions. John, actually I snapped quite a few shots and only liked these two. Hmmm, perhaps I should go back and look again.
Again, thanks
Stunning! This is immaculate shot for canvas ,it will give a beautiful look for filling the empty walls and hallways.
Good results Bob,
It's interesting to see these two examples at 1/250 and 1/640s as I think it suggests that you do not always need the higher speeds to achieve good shots of these.
Thank you all for your kind words.
