Eventually it will blossom into largish white lilies. (I hope)

    Hi Brian,

The subject and composition is good, but the bright stem over on the right hand edge really attracts my gaze, I'd have been tempted to clone it out entirely, shouldn't be too tricky - I say that as I'm not sure whether you've done much before.

I will take your question about my past cloning as a compliment. You haven't noticed them! I was trying for having the stem as an object that would gently make the viewer wonder what was over there. Apparently not gentle enough.

Indeed it is meant as a compliment, I had wondered, but not seen the evidence

I don't need to know what's over there

For me the shot is about the impending blooms and the freshness of the water drops.

I have to say that considering the title - T'was cold and wet in the Elven glen - and my ignorant assumptions as to your climate; cold is not what I'd have expected. Since there's no (cool blue) tones from a sky in shot, all we have is the colour temperature of the light on the blooms and their colour affects our perception of even that.

    Cheers, Dave

You are right. Culture tells us what we see. Here clear skies mean hot tropical sun. Darkness and rain equal cold. Obviously I need to explore and rethink my ideas of how to portray temperature. Thanks for the heads up.
    Brian.
