    Tigress in Monochrome.

Her name is Sonam and she roams in the forests of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in India. She walked straight towards us and then passed by our jeep at a distance of not more than 3 meters.

    Canon EOS 7D | EF70-200mm F2.8L IS II USM
    ISO 250 | 1/200 | F4.0 @ 110mm

    C&C welcome.

    Tiger in Monochrome.

Hi Ashish, very nice image I'm sure it would look nice in color too. A faster shutter speed would have prevented the motion blur on the right front leg but I think it was a very instantaneous shot and the blur doesn't really matter as the tiger looks beautiful.

Nice effort, needs a bit more cast shadow underneath to make her look grounded.

Could you get away with a tiny bit more highlight brightness? What works well in colour often needs a little more contrast after being converted to monochrome.

Possibly a fraction 'tight' to the left side but not a serious issue, particularly if you had to avoid something which would have caused distraction.

Thanks David... In one of my earlier posts i had posted pictures of tigers in colour Tiger Tiger Burning Bright! ... thought i would experiment with wildlife in monochrome.

Thanks for your feedback Geoff... I agree with you. Will keep this in mind going forward.

A very impressive image. Someone asked 'why monochrome?'. For me the answer lies in what I believe to be the fact, that this image shows the power and, indeed, intelligence of the creature. In a colour picture we would have seen the beautiful colours, but would have lost a lot of the power of this image.
