    Boats on Lake Fewa, Nepal

Lake Fewa is the second largest lake in Nepal, and the town of Pokhara is located on the lake. It is a popular tourist destination for both the locals and foreigners, and is the starting point for many of the well known trekking trails in Nepal.

Normally one gets a great view of the Annapurna Range, but not today, with all the cloud cover, so I had to settle taking images of some of the boats on the lake.

Perhaps you may crop the top most area? just above the blue boats.

Very interesting! What makes the water appear so green?

Sorry about the delay in getting back. I missed a lot on the road due to poor internet connectivity most of the time.

This is a glacier fed lake, which means there are a lot of boulders and rocks in the water upstream. These get ground together and they create very fine suspended particulate matter called "rock flour". This changes the way light is reflected and gives the water that bluish-green colour.

I have a shot of some lakes in the Canadian Rockies, Peyto Lake comes to mind (shown here), that have this colouration too.
