Almost a tribute to Mike Buckley

I was cleaning out the garage today when I came across a box of old wine glasses and immediately thought of Mike. So in order to avoid doing work I stopped to take some photographs as a tribute to Mike. The back of the trailer is not the ideal set up but worked amazingly well for the style I had in mind.

The plan had been to do a tribute to Mike and although the first shot is almost identical to one of his I felt the style of the second shot was so uniquely my own that I decided in order to preserve his artistic independence only call it an almost tribute......

I am not sure that I will pursue this line of photography but I wonder if any of the rest of you occasionally see a photographic opportunity and get reminded of a fellow CinC member.

You mentioned that the first photo reminds you of a style I have used but it's the second one that does that for me. Like Matt, I also prefer the second one. Did you receive a product placement fee from HP for making the first one?

Delighted and somewhat relived that you have all (especially Mike) taken them in the manner intended. I am expecting to receive a huge payment from HP once their top executives see the photo. Even more likely is that the glasses will be broken by the time they reach the dump.

However I was interested if any others are occasionally reminded of a fellow CinC member when they are not online?

P.S. I also came across a set of 7 installations disks for Windows 3.1 and a 10 meg hard drive.

No but I will be now !

LPaul those images are just mind blowing. I assume you used the D800 with an extremely expensive lens to achieve such artistry !

There is an ad on tv currently in which a glass of red wine falls over. I don't know what the ad is about, but when I saw the glass fall over I thought of Mike's wife (she who breaks all the glasses).

You surprise me, Dave. You know as well as anyone that neither of these two photos could have been captured with anything less than the D800e or the D810.

This thread is too funny... And since you asked, I was looking for a bottle of red wine in the local LCBO, that means "Liquor Control Board of Ontario" for the uninitiated, and saw a brand with a most unusual and crooked bottle. I DID think of Mike Buckley! How strange is that?

That's not at all strange. That's the highest form of flattery. Seriously! Thank you, Suzan!

Congratulations you provide only the second response that helps answer the perplexing question of whether or not you sometimes (even just a moment of weakness) think of another CinC member.

If I think of you when I visit a wine cellar loaded with cheap wines would you still find it flattering....

P.S. Prices are Aus$ not those fancy US ones.

Absolutely! There is no better wine than the wine we enjoy that's really inexpensive. I've got my favorite cheapo wines that are always in our home.

Sorry that I missed your post, Greg. I'm so glad that you have fully grasped that is she, not I, who breaks all the glasses. As I type this, I'm making sure that she is not looking over my shoulders right now.

When i see a gorgeous landscape and then I then think how beautiful it would look in black and white, I think of Donald.

Frank Mi - when looking on line at Amaryllis bulbs.

Deetheturk and Grahame - bugs and spiders

Mike Buckley - sleek, almost oily glass

Richard Crowe - whenever i think "rescue"

Izzie - when I am up at 3:00am.

I could go on, but this should get some conversation going.

Oops! I was so taken by the fact that you thought of me when you came upon glasses that had been maintained so well that I forgot to attend to that issue.

Indeed, when I come upon a very simple scene that I want to photograph in black-and-white, I think of Donald. That's especially true if I'm composing it to include a large sky. Though this thread is more than two years old, that has happened several times since then.
