It does seem somewhat flat, any suggestions to cure that?

I suppose you could try increasing the highlights just a fraction to give it it little 'boost'. Alternatively some slight Local Contrast Enhancement, but watch for any over exposure of the highlights.

Had to tie some string onto them for a decent drape...was stacked as well.
The maximum RGB numbers are 245. What about the background?

I personally feel that the subject isolation is a little over the top. Great shot either way, chauncey!

Maybe you should try a different background instead...The flowers and arrangement is very nice ... I'd use a clothes dryer/hanger to easily change backgrounds if I am downstairs...

I tried it against a tie dye t-shirt as per Lizzie...didn't work out, so I went with a sky....



Still trying to get my head wrapped around lighting and background though.

I think the colour of the flowers and the BG are so similar to each other in #1 that , the flowers don't show themselves. May be it is better to use whiter flowers like the ones in your second edit on the BG in the first image
