What do you think of this sunrise?
    I'm not sure.

I love it, wouldn't change a thing. Wish I was there. It's beautiful.

To me, the photo angle and overall balance is good but I think it tends to look like just one of those rather 'watery' winter sunsets without any real 'punch'.

If, for example, the yellowish sky had a dramatic red tinge the whole composition would have more life.

I fear that if you try to add more brightness to the scene your sky highlights would become overexposed. So I think you have probably done all that you can with it.

Yes, that's what I thought. I can't really effect the sunset to look exactely like I want it but I can only capture it the best I can.

Here I brought out a bit of extra red at the golden edges of the clouds. Is this what you ment? (I like it, thanks for your tip.)

I really like it as is with the vanishing point effect. Try it with a crop off the right side so that it looks more like the trees and road are vanishing out of frame....but not quite.

    You mean something like this?

I always find it very hard to build up a nice composition and decide the best crop afterwards, thanks for your comments!

Don't know what Chuck will think of it. I think this is now a much more powerful image. His suggestion and your execution of it, work wonderfully. That's teamwork!

    Hi
First of all I apologize if what I say will be disapointing for You.You must know that is my opinion about a shot not about You.Below I desaturated this shot to see well what I say. There are three diagonals and a horizontal line which drive the eyes to a point. This point should have to be the main point of interest. There we see nothing. So I cropped it as You will see.

So I used layers paint bucket, paint brushes, selection brush tool to obtain a landscape which respects the diagonals natural sense.A landscape like Yours asks long time waiting for a photo event and several returnings. What we just did seems to be a draft only.

Very nice Jeroen....that's what I was thinking of. I often hold up a piece of paper (or two) to visualize how crop effects might work.
