Port glasses gymnastics -- Take 2 thanks to Greg (FootLoose)

Greg made the great suggestion in this thread that I turn a particular glass upside down. It's that kind of helpful interaction that is what I value the most about our CiC community.

I really like the whimsical, asymmetrical interest his suggestion adds to the composition. Indeed, I like the photo shown below better mostly for that reason but also because I made some other details more to my liking. Thanks, Greg!

I think you did well to take Greg's suggestion Mike!

This is much cooler. More unexpected.

Indeed. It challenges us by being different to what we expect to see. I suppose that's a metaphor for good image-making no matter the subject - Have something in there grabs attention and makes you look again.

From the comments, I think I must have missed a previous post Mike. I find this strangely disturbing. Don't know why, must be something deep down. Nothing wrong with the shot though.

Absolutely gorgeous! I adore the colours and whimsical nature, and the unexpected surprise. Another favourite.

Thank you everyone, and again, special thanks to Greg! It's great to see that so many people like his revised composition.

John: You apparently missed this thread.

The credit is all yours, Mike. You had the original idea and the skill to produce the image. I just offered a minor suggestion.

The mouth of the upturned glass is doing my head in: I can't decide if the 'upper' edge is in front or behind the 'lower' edge. Maybe it is just my own wonky eyes, but I think it is a great illusion. Very well done.

Unlike some other images for which we've discussed similar issues, it's clear to me that the upper edge is behind the lower edge. Unfortunately, I've broken down the setup, so I have no idea if I'm right.

While the other image is very nice, this one takes it too another, superior, level and I agree with Donald...

Kudos to you for the execution and Greg for the concept

Well, apart from other problems, I am short-sighted in one eye and long-sighted in the other, so I sometimes see things in a funny way. Like our traffic speed signs. They have black numbers in red circles on a white background, and to me the red circle appears to sit about 6 inches in front of the number. ie a 2D sign looks like it is 3D. It is something to do with the Doppler affect and my weird vision.
