Re: young lioness
I think the perception of sharpness in the 2nd is more through the direction of the light. I notice how the fur on the right shoulder because of being in the shadow, is clearly outlined against the sunlit grass. The light hits the eyes straight on.

Re: young lioness
Wonderful photos. I also wonder about the eyes in the second one not being sharp. The details of the other parts of her head seem sharp, so I have to think the action was stopped also in her eyes.

Re: young lioness
I've just come across another image I took of Amayi in the late afternoon sun and Izzie as she was already over a year old when I got there I was not able to have contact with her. However whilst I was there we got four cubs around 3-4 months old including a white one,I was able to have daily contact with them for the next 8 months until I left.I am including a photo of myself saying goodbye to the white cub Tango when he was about one year old-a big softy.

Re: young lioness
Beautiful images Neil. The content overcomes any lack of sharpness for me.

Re: young lioness
Thanks for the personal touch, Neil -- I love the one with you in the shot with the white one as my favourite of all...too much emotion. I guess it sort of hurts a little to leave her after taking care of her from babyhood. So beautiful....
You are welcome to include more photos o share with us if you like...they are all so beautiful....
