    The Great Bronze Quadriga

This magnificent sculpture resides at the top of the Supreme Court Building in Rome, Italy.

The Court Building was inspired by late Renaissance and Baroque architecture. The building is completely covered with Travertine limestone. Above the façade looking towards the River Tiber it is surmounted by a Great Bronze Quadriga (shown below), set there in 1926, the work of the sculptor Ettore Ximenes from Palermo.

    The Great Bronze Quadriga

It is difficult to do something photographically great with this kind of an image but on the flip side, it's also pretty hard to mess up! (At least I hope so!)

I just got Nik Software a few days ago and run the plug-in through the Travel selection/options. It looks good if you put a light vignette around it...no I did not save it. I just thought I'd have a look.

Those clouds in the background really add to the movement. I might also crop some of the stonework.

Those faint whispy clouds also caught my eye. Just sufficient to break up a plain blue sky without being over dominant. Works well for me.

I should have thought to include a slight vignette Izzie. Great catch!

Right you are Geoff. Getting just the right look to the clouds in an image can sometimes really enhance the overall impact.

I had choices to make with the stonework, John. The original image included the name of the building in large letters and though appropriate, I didn't want the text to draw the eye away from the sculpture. I also considered removing more of the stonework as you have suggested, and I may still go that way as I agree with your assessment. When I cut the stonework in half, the image becomes crowded in the frame but it may be worth while to change the aspect ratio at the same time to compensate. Thank you for your comments!
