    Dragonfly family portrait

It has been a while since I gone out to aim for these little critters. So, I decided to shoot some portraits of them and have some fun with them. These were shot with the Tamron 90mm.

one of the behaviour of a dragonfly is to return and land on the spot where it was before it was disturbed. So, the trick is to move low and slow. When they fly off, stay still till they return. Then wait till they are settled. Then move low and slow ... repeat till you think you are close enough to get the shot you want.

Ah, and Izzie, would you please tell us now your interpretation of these creatures? Any Alien-like descriptions?

I saw your comment, Gigi....you made me laugh. Thank you. It has a been a hard day but OK, I am up to the challenge.

When I saw Steven's comment about "having some fun with them..." I thought his intention was to do some silly edits to make his creatures do something like standing one of them on its head or something...The first one nearly confirm my suspicion because I thought he took a shot of the dragonfly and smack another bug in front of its face digitally...now that is strange...because #2 looks like it's eating some lobster (man! I am still hungry for those lobsters I did not get for my birthday...!!!) No #3 no comment...too hard to decipher that one..but No 4 -- now that one is a WoWeeee!! Look at its fat lips! Isn't that one enticing to say the least? One smack and he's liable to give one a deep kiss ... until his earphones drop...oh well...I like his earphones...Looks like an expensive Bose to me...!!

Sorry Steven...I really like all those nice shots you did and I didn't think a portrait shot will do any justice to them, but you nailed it, buddy. Congratulations.

Isabel, you do have some very good fairy tale imagination. Must have had loads of cow pie around where you were growing up. I did not even see the bug in front of the 1st dragonfly's face. I like your descriptions. Made me re-look the images again with your imagination.

I think they are seasonal. Some times I see loads of them, then other times just a few. Anyway, they are interesting subjects to shoot when ideas are running dry.
