    A shot with the lot

This is another self-challenge project in which I wanted to create one image from a single shot that combines as many technique (that I have learned about photography so far) as possible.

No blending/overlaying of layers. Just 1 curve adjustment and resize sharpening.I wanted to use light painting but it would be a bit hard since this shot is a selfie so I resort to speedlight. It was taken around midnight in Brisbane cityTitle- Midnight city and the invisible man.

    Dean,

I like this image. The first thing that hits me is the contrast between the bright lights of the city and the tone of the sky and stars. The reflection on the river is very nice. I also like the gesture on the guy on the bench. I'm wondering what he's thinking. I think that in a perfect world I'd want the ciy lights to be just a tad less bright, and I'd also try just a small tad less sharpening / clarity. I'd also try a crop to give the observer more room between his feet and the border. That said, this image works for me. Well done!

Love it Dean...what is distracting for me is the guy...no, don't remove him -- he is part of the shot -- it is his head that distract me. I think his face should be looking at the direction of the scenery instead of looking down. Just a thought...

Thanks Cliff. This shot was metered for the city if you ignored the foreground subject it'd just be like any other night city lights shots. I guess being converted to B&W may gives the impression that the city is a tad bright. Also, the foreground was almost pitch black and would be quite difficult to add anything that I could steal the attention away from the city (especially at midnight and with speedlight). My resize Sharpening is almost always at around 60%. I rarely ever apply any clarity to any of my images. In regarding crop, it's the border size and it was quite late when I processed this image ( eyes got tired)

    Cheers

    Cheers Izziek!

He was kind of gazing at the city but I guess it's the shape of the hood that gives a different impression. Also, the noggin was a see through (coz he's an invisible man and all) so it would be hard to judge which direction he's looking at
