Sharon, I have been sitting here staring at this image for 20 minutes -- spellbound by your artistry. There is so much to take, so much to engage the mind...
Whenever I try to apply textures to an image, the whole thing finishes up looking washed out. I guess it is all in the blending modes?

Thank you so much everyone for your responses. Your feedback is terrific.
I like this technique but reckon it could get 'tired' very quickly if I used it frequently. it works best when there is a lot of fluid movement.
This is the only other time I have used it.
