    An old smoke detector

Was prepping my bedroom for a new paint job and had to remove the old smoke detector from the ceiling. I dropped it and when it split in two for some reason I found the insides interesting enough to throw on the lightbox and take a shot.

My wife recently replaced our ten-year-old smoke detectors. The replacements are so darned sensitive that I can barely cook anything without setting them off. You may regret breaking it.

Doing me out of a job Travis, I'd have done the painting free of charge as long as you flew me over for the day

    Travis,
That is a really good image, on two levels: #1 it's very much a commercial image in that it shows the inside of the SD very well and, #2 it shows clearly that SD need to be checked, AND cleaned frequently and so would be a great informational photo to make people aware. I would suggest you bring a print and digital copy to your local Fire Department. I think they would find it very informative and usual for their twice-yearly reminders to change batteries in smoke detectors (spring and fall time change).
