More work with the light box

Did some more shots tonight practicing with the light box. I'm really interested in getting better at this.
Let me know what you guys think.

    1. Probably the most prized possession passed on to me by my dad before he died. This is the original set of jump wings he received in November of 1944 before being deployed to France. He was originally assigned to the 1/501st parachute infantry regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. After Bastogne he was reassigned to the 502nd parachute infantry regiment because of the heavy losses they took during the battle of the bulge.

    2. One of my wife's watches. I chose to practice with this because of the texture.

    3. My first badge as a police officer.

What's your light source? Do you have flash other than what's on the camera?

I will have to look and see what kind of lights they are. I bought a light box that came with two lights. I have those on the sides of the light box and the only overhead light source is the light over the kitchen table where I was set up.

Kris, I think that you're referring to a "light tent"... http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Platin...ords=light+box
A light box is one of these...http://www.amazon.com/Artograph-12-I...ords=light+box
which is what Harold Davis sometimes uses with his flowers...http://www.digitalfieldguide.com/blo...flowers/page/6

Aside from that, the terms are somewhat interchangeable.

On the first two images I would try either a darker drop cloth and/or position the lights a little farther away. You need only enough light to illuminate the jump wings and watch without created a distracting highlight or noisy shadows. The badge has the perfect backdrop, just try to let the backdrop go black. I'm just getting into still life shots myself and it can be an enjoyable challenge.

You are right. It is a light tent.
