Very nicely captured Melanie, well exposed and processed.

Welcome to CiC as well, I look forward to seeing more of you images.

    Hi Melanie,

Welcome to the CiC forums from me.

I wasn't sure if this was a statement or a question?

At this size, it appears to be sharp enough from front to back.

I wasn't sure whether you were seeking any comment or critique on the shot - I will assume, since CiC is a learning forum, that the answer to the latter is yes, but please don't interpret the ideas below as dismissive of the compliments paid by others (you deserve them), I am just trying to help improve your photography.

It certainly is a nice capture with (in my opinion) fairly good composition and you obviously need to be in the right place at the right time.

    If I had shot it, here are some things I would give some attention to;
Since the camera was pointing slightly downwards, the foreground buildings have some tilt to their verticals near the lower corners of the shot - and since the foreground isn't really a significant part of the shot - I feel some post processing correction of this would be possible.
While talking about the foreground, there are some bright spots, most notably the shiny top of a street lamp (just left of centre), which might be usefully locally adjusted to reduce their exposure, so as not to attract the viewers eye away from the ray of light.
The final thing I personally do not do is put such a bold, attention grabbing watermark on my pictures, since again, this draws the viewers eye away from the subject. If you're worried about people stealing it, the small size you have given us will help more than the watermark, which is so easily cloned out by the 0.00001% of people with image theft in mind, but which spoils it for 100% of all viewers.

That said, I do compliment you on taking a shot that would look very good in travel brochure for the area/country concerned (which sadly is just the sort of illegal use of pictures that happens a lot).

I hope you find my suggestions helpful.

It would be nice to know where this is?

    All the best,

I like this very much, Melanie.
I noticed a couple of spots in the upper left of the picture. I own a Nikon D600 that was giving me the same kind of spots. I sent it away for warranty repair in October, but the spots have begun to reappear. I hope you aren't experiencing the same issue.

Hi George ,if you are talking about the very small dot in the upper left part, it seems to be sensor dust and the sensor can be cleaned by expert people.I think sometimes dirty lenses cause the same problem and it is over when you clean your lens.I hope your problem is so simple to solve...otherwise it is a pain in the neck

Hi Melanie,I like your shot very much Composition and light are both very good.Just as an opinion,if your title is 'Ray of light' ,I would crop it a little bit from the bottom by leaving the bushes and the the street lamp out. So,it would be easier to concentrate on the ray of light.I quite like the hanging clothes, they add some meaning to the composition.)

    All the best,
    Hi Dave,
what I like about this forum is that is a learning community, therefore I thank you for your suggest
I agree with you about bright spots and the tilt of foreground, but I disagree about watermark, cause personally I prefer so
However, I shot this pic in a small village (Sezze) near Rome, Italy.
    Thanks again
    and all the best!

    Hi George,
it is my dirty lens, as bnnrcn said. But thanks to have notice it, I'm going to adjust in photoshop
