I don't know what it is Kris, but it doesn't seem very cute![]()
I believe this is a type of Katydid, antennae are longer than the body so definitely not a grasshopper but without some better pics I'd go with Katydid or possibly a larger type of cricket.
get rid of it![]()
He/She didn't cooperate very well - this was the best angle I could get, considering that I didn't wanted to get too close. As ugly as it is, no shooting angle could flatter this critter. As for interaction......![]()
Man, this thing was crawling in my living room; my husband was running errands (so I couldn't yell for his help) and I had to find a way to get thing thing out of the house.
Didn't want it to find another hidey-hole to crawl back in.
Bugs are fine outside, I photographed quite a few of them, but that's where they belong--------OUTSIDE!![]()
At least it didn't hiss at you.
Hi Kris,I'm with Jack on this one,but it is weird looking![]()
it must be color mutant of the green grass hopper![]()
I did a Google search for Katydid, and it really looks like that might be it.
I found some amazing pictures of hot pink, bright green and light purple bugs - now why did I end up with an ordinary brown one?![]()
Fortunately Kaydids aren't in any way hazardous to people. Moreover, since some are omnivorous or carnivorous they could very likely be taking care of a lot of other insects you may have but not yet seen. Insects (a generic term in which I include all those creepy crawlies) as a group are amazing creatures and should be appreciated for themselves. Many of which are highly edible!
