    The final Toad for Jack

You can blame David for this as he put me onto looking up some macro work by Lord Vetrani and I came across an article on his animated macro. I had also watched the link today that Jack mentioned showing Hypnotoad an animated version of my new found subjects.

No chasing toads tonight as it's raining so a quick download of a bit of software, a very quick learning curve as this is totally new to me, a total remake for acceptable file size and one hour later, this

    The final Toad for Jack

You could spend hours and hours with this but I'm not going to

    Hi David,

It's very easy otherwise I would not have managed it.

I had hoped it would give someone a laugh. The first attempt I had him blowing a kiss and winking but could not be bothered on the second go it becomes monotonous.

I'm sure fans of the amphibian worldwide won't even notice the background.

Cool. How is it done or is there some software to make up the animated gif?

LordV is a super duper macro guy and does amazing work. Did not realise he has gone beyond just pics. But then I have not done one bug since that wasp incident.

    Grahame,
Thanks for the effort. Not a clue how you did it but I think you did a great job with an already great shot. It's one of those shots that could be put up with the heading to "Caption this photo."
Hypnotoad thanks you (of course some unique sound effects wouldn't hurt...but enough pressure on you ;-)

Well this one certainly brought smiles on my face...perhaps all day whenever I think of how beautiful you made this toad look...

Re: The final Toad for Jack

Ok here's a quick version of how it's done, remembering I only learnt this last night and I'm sure there are far advanced methods around.

This method based upon producing 4 off gif images from one original and placing them into a programme called 'Microsoft Gif Animator' small free download which combines them into a Gif animation movie.

    a) Open the original image in PSE downsize to 600x400, convert to gif file and save as No 1.
    b) Open the original image in PSE select the mouth area (I used an ellipse) and apply the distort filter to produce the pout, downsize and save as gif No 2 (kiss).
    c) Use a copy of the No 1 gif and change title to No 3 (this is the undistorted original)
    d) Open the original image in PSE select the eye area (I used ellipse again) and apply the distort filter to produce the wink, downsize and save as gif No 4.

You then have 4 gif images and place these into the gif animator programme where you can vary the sequence and timing.
These 4 images of 600x400 give an animation file size of around 400kb.

Variations are endless and you could easily get addicted. I just wonder what could be done with a Mantis

Too cute Grahame...I can see where you could entertain yourself for yours creating these so while I am tempted to play I am going to try and stop myself

At the very first miliseconds, before reading your text, I thought I was seeing things (without having any drink!). I am glad you told us about the animation software!

Nice and funny job, Grahame! Rgds,
