Wasp
This was taken last month before we had a cold spell that killed off all our bushes. C&C welcome

Re: Wasp
David...very nice and clear. It will help if you erase the lower green at the right side of the shot... your title also reminded me of my time in San Diego (CA) where an old man taught me how to pronounced the word "Wasp"...it was a blast!

Re: Wasp
This is very nice. It seems to me the head and mouthparts especially are a little beyond the plane of best focus especially relative to the abdomen. Am I right? If so, wish it were the other way around.

Re: Wasp
Nice and sharp and great colours.
But there is something off here. The lighting on the left vs the right is not balanced which gives the stinger end far more prominence than it should. A bit of brightening and a bit more space on the left may make it better "balanced".

Re: Wasp
I really love the colors, and it looks great to me. I am sure better composition and different focus would bring a different look, but this one really works for me.

Re: Wasp
Good capture David.
Wouldn't it be great if it was possible to get these critters to stay still and have cameras that had infinite DOF

Re: Wasp
Hi Bobo,here is my excuses
this wasp was under the bush, strong sunlight coming in from the right side and the little so and so kept moving,as they do,the shot as most of mine are is hand held which leaves next to no room for error,as this was shot at 1-1 mag there is only a very small crop on the right side and not the left, and the image was a lot brighter on the left and I darkened it down
lol I will look at it again later.Thank you for commenting.

Re: Wasp
Not yet David. I have many shots of the paper wasps here but there's a slightly larger wasp species that whilst looking very photogenic (and not so friendly) never seem to land on anything long enough.
I'm trying to grow some flowers at the moment to tempt them.

Re: Wasp
Not to worry, it is still a great shot however one looks at it. A bit of nitpicking now helps in the future.
Wasps and hornets - yes, they are a pain to get still. I should know because a 6mm stinger is still in my elbow from nearly 9 weeks ago.

That sting sounds very painful, should you not be getting that attended to?
Cheers David
