Nice capture Steve. What are snowy owls doing in New Jersey? I live in Collingswood and I've seen a couple in Knights Park. Does this mean we are in for a long cold winter??
Travis - I don't know what they are doing around here this year. I have never seen one before. There are 3 hanging out in the Edwin Forsythe WMA in Absecon and I read where there were 10 spotted the other day on the lower end of LBI.
Joe - Thanks for the comments. I would have liked to catch him in a more natural environment but I am not complaining.
Nice - and unusual contrast within the subject matter: an exotic wildfowl and roof vents. Good eye. And what, by the way. is the unusual gangly doodad overtopping everything?
Mark - I believe that it is actually to keep birds off of whatever they are covering. I saw a lot of this these the last time in NYC. Thanks for the comments.
Last year they said that the Snowy Owls were further south due to a collapse of their natural food source. However several have been spotted this year already, perhaps indicating that this will be a big year also. I've seen several photos from the Middle of the US (Missouri)
